I’m getting ready to start the February 6 Ancestor Service, for the second time I’ve done this. Once everything is finished I will make sure and post some photos (as I am permitted to take them) to our group Facebook page and share whatever else I have to share about the event.
But right now, before I begin, I just wanted to say thank you, to the 42 people who are participating this month. Because of you, 373 named ancestors as well as potentially millions of unnamed ancestors from your bloodlines, or other large/unknown groups who were mentioned in your petitions including all of the ancestors of the Middle Passage, will be honored on the ancestor altar this evening and given light and sustenance and all of our love and blessings. In addition, and something new I will be doing from this month after a number of requests, 34 pets will also be remembered for their presence in our lives, mostly cats and dogs (including service dogs) and also at least one snake and several guinea pigs.
The Ancestor Service received enough money in donations this month to cover its costs fully (for which I am also deeply grateful), and the extra will be sent to charities that help the dead and the living, as I did last month. When I’ve sent that I will post information about the groups who received your generosity. At least part will be going to a GoFundMe for an Aboriginal/First People family in Australia who need help burying their mother, a link I shared in the Facebook a few days ago but you are also welcome to help and spread the word. If you are aware of any other fundraisers or charities that would fit our general ancestral theme please send them along to me!
Now it’s time to go do the work. Thank you again and more information very soon.
